5.4.5 At the Workplace

Discussion questions for safety planning at the workplace include the following:

  1. Is the survivor currently employed? If so, does the perpetrator know where they work?

  2. Is the perpetrator a colleague? Is the perpetrator someone who has authority over them at work?

  3. Does anyone at the survivor’s workplace know about the assault?

  4. Is there a sexual harassment policy at the survivor’s workplace?

  5. Did the survivor tell their employer about the assault? If so, how did they respond? If they have not reported the assault to their employer, does the survivor think that doing so would make them safer?

  6. Does the survivor encounter the perpetrator at work? Are there steps the survivor can take to avoid interacting with the perpetrator? What else can the survivor do to increase their safety at work?

  7. Does the survivor want to continue working at their current job? Is moving to other locations, shifts or teams an option?
