2.5.6 Campus and University Survivors

Campus sexual assault happens at colleges and universities around the world.

Survivors of campus and university sexual assault come from a variety of populations and can be any gender, sexual orientation, race or socioeconomic status. They may be citizens of the country or international studies targeted for their lack of status in the country. They include students with and without disabilities.

When safety planning with survivors of campus sexual assault, the university may be able provide services to ensure that the survivor can avoid contact with the perpetrator in classes, housing, activities, programs or the workplace.

Safety planning can be done whether or not the survivor reports to the police or seeks a formal university investigation.

See the section on ‘How to Safety Plan’ for more information.
